                                 Abstract.
This essay reasoned why most countries increasing policing border security. It will also discuss the effects it has on the people and the nation. It will also covered the terrorism, illegal migration and harvesting of other countries resources. This essay will also state the effect of increasing policing border as positive and negative to the people and the nation. Finally, this essay concluded, by restating and outlined that increasing policing border securities have a balance of negative and positive effect to the people and the nation.

Title: What are the major reasons for the increased policing of national borders and the effects this has on the people and the nation?
Global migration and diffusion of outside influences into a Nation was what been happening during the past years. However, the very birth of computer age, technology and highly computerized machine and scanners helps in international borders as securities during the migration of people. This essay will give the reasons and then will state the effect of increasing policing border security on the people and the nation. It is important to recognize why increasing policing border security and the effects it has on the people and the nations. The major reasons why increasing policing borders could be to avoid terrorism, illegal migration and illegal harvesting of other country’s resources.
Firstly, Terrorism is not a new concept; it has been practiced since the beginning of the recorded history. “Terrorism, has been described variously as both tragic and strategy, a crime and a holy duty, as justified reaction to oppression and an inexcusable abomination” Mamu. C. (2007). By knowing better the motives and the danger it have on the people and the nation, that’s why most countries have increase policing border securities such as international airports, seaports and check points in countries such as USA and Canada to avoid terrorism. Most terrorism activities begin normally like any other innocent people. In incident where they hijacked plants, they just go through normal check up like any other passengers to board the plane up until when was the right time to show themselves that they are involved in a suicide mission. For example, the incident occurred in 11 April 2001 in New York City. Where the two planes hit the northern and the southern tower resulted in killing of thousands of people. Therefore, the main reason of increasing policing border security is to avoid these terrorism activities from our countries.
Next, criminal movement is also a threat to the people and the nation. Sometimes people cause troubles, escaped jails, and want to migrate to other countries to hide away from their crimes and troubles. Fortunately, by increased the policing borders security most of them were caught since, one has to provide a complete and approved travelling documents. For example, to be eligible to travel overseas one has to go through police and medical clearances” Travel State (Canada). (2011). Most countries the international borders securities have work collaborate with the immigration department to make this more effective. Therefore, by increasing policing border security it helps protecting the country from the migration of criminals from the outside world to enter into our countries.
Another, reason of increasing policing border securities is to get tract of foreign investors in the country from doing business in the country illegally. Along with the help of immigration department, the city council also comes in there ensuring that the business affairs of the foreign investor were operated according to the laws and the regulations of the country. Similarly, to students study permit and workers work permit, business were also monitored by business license. Only by signing these formal documents and clearances, one will be able to operate and get through these international borders. For instance, “in Solomon Islands a lot of Chinese people who want to run their business without the approval from the City councils were later found out and were sent back to their country” Rowan, C. (2011). Therefore, increasing policing border security helps to ensure that the all the foreign investors in the country are operating legally.
Moreover, deliberately supplied and smuggling of people in and out of a country with nuclear weapons and firearms were also contributing factors for increased policing borders. In most cases firearm were sent via sea vessel in container ships by producers, fortunately, since the cargo has to checked by the ports and the quarantine department, only what is allowed into that particular country will be get through. The movement of such things can be only detected at these international border securities since policing borders were tightly secured.  It have been a concern in most nations that crime rate increases correlate with nuclear weapon possessions. For example, “during the Solomon Island ethnic tension most people shows more power when they posse’s guns and other nuclear warheads illegal sending from Papua New Guinea. However, when the government initiates a team to collect all the guns from the people and increase its policing borders they found out that these guns were sent via illegal sea vessels through Bougainvillea across the border of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea” Rowan, C. (2011). From since then, the peace started to maintain again and people were treated the same. Therefore, the reason why increasing policing borders is to maintain the peace and the security of a particular country from any illegal activities happening between two or more countries that will affect the people and the Nation.
Secondly, illegal migration of people in and out of a country have been practiced for several decayed and it always associates with other negative impacts to the country, such as overcrowded and increasing the population of the destination country. Some migrants used fake documents such as Passports and IDs to get through some international borders but now since increasing policing borders securities along with new modern technologies it have minimize these illegal migrations. “Most countries they increase their policing borders securities by work collaborate with several security departments in the country such as immigration department, police and health department, which means migrants, have to go through several tests and sign several documents for approval before eligible to migrate out and enter into other countries” FAIR, (2007). Moreover, in the destination country the immigration department there has to make approvals and know how much time the migrants have to spend before leave. For instance, immigration department has to produce permits, such as study and work permits to the migrant who are not the citizens in that particular country. Therefore, in order to minimize and controlled these illegal migrations the government has engage in a very effective way of controlling these illegal migration by increasing policing border securities such as at the airport and the seaports.
Next, another reason why most countries increase their policing border securities is that most countries are very cautious about the health of the people and the nation. Since, migrants can be carriers of foreign diseases to the place of destinations countries increase policing border securities to prevent these foreign diseases. For example,“Some of these diseases can be transmitted diseases such as HIV and AIDS and Swein flu, which were the primary killers in some countries and associated with the down fall of some country’s economy” FAIR, (2007). Therefore, the reason why most countries increase their international securities is to avoid and minimize foreign diseases from entering onto their country.
Furthermore, most developed nations have very limited rubbish-dumping sites. Some of them take advantage of other countries to discard their rubbish. Especially, in the developing nations. These rubbishes contained very active radio materials, which can further cause further destruction in the environment. For example, According to Luis E. R (2009), in 2002 Nadi Declaration: “We express our strong objection to the transport of nuclear and other hazardous materials through the waters around ACP States. We call for the immediate cessation of such practice in order to, inter alia, prevent any occurrence of accidents that could seriously threaten their sustainable development and the health of their people”. In 2006, an Asian ship transported some of these rubbishes from Taiwan to Solomon Islands after they giving false information to the government, said that it increases soil fertility. Upon, arrival at the seaports the Quarantine department along with the seaports authority of the country conducted a thorough checked. The result turned to be the ship posses some radioactive elements, which can be decayed and release to the environment causing the environmental problems. Therefore, increasing policing border security prevents movement of harmful items in and out of a country.
Thirdly, illegal harvesting of other country’s resources. These can be in the form of foreign fishing vessels deliberately fish in other country’s sea water boundaries without the permission from that particular country.
Japanese managers’ self identification in opposition to US tuna interests came to the fore in representations of a 1980s dispute about illegal fishing by a US purse seine vessel, the Jeanette Diana. In 1984 several Pacific Island countries became angry at illegal fishing by US purse seiners in their EEZs. The Jeanette Diana was a very large, high tech purse seiner with its own small helicopter to ‘spot’ schools of fish. The ship had been noticed in several places within Solomon Islands waters over a period of days, so the authorities sent out a patrol boat to request the Jeanette Diana to stop so they could board and check whether or not the ship had been fishing. When the Captain of the tuna boat refused to stop, the patrol boat fired shots across the bow of the tuna boat. The boat had been fishing, so it was impounded and the Captain was prosecuted (Barclay, K. 2010).
Since, such event can happened that’s why most countries increase policing security borders securities in their own countries.
Next, tourism can be also seen as a threat to the natural resources of a country, though it helps improve the economy of a country. In most occasions tourism come into the country in  numbers exploring our natural beauties in our island nations. They often get tempted to pick our valuables and brought with them to their countries. “This has contributed to a great loss of our valuable and primitive items” Ragsdale, I. (2011). By establishing a tight international border securities always helps to find out from tourist who possess those valuable pickings, and this is a way of saving our endangered valuable resources from being deliberately removed. For instance, at the airport, one has to fill a declaration slip whether you in possession of any plants or other items that was not originally yours. Therefore, increasing policing borders security indirectly means saving our natural and valuable resources.
On the other hand, though increasing policing border security helps and protecting our countries from outside world influences. Yet it is still have some both positive and negative effects on the people and the nation. That is, it almost have an equally both beneficial and negative impacts on our daily and the standard of living in our countries.
In the following paragraphs, it will look at the beneficial (positive) effects of increasing policing borders first and then will focuses on the negative effects later. One positive effect of increasing policing border securities is that, it secures the people and the country from the outside world influences. That is, people will feel more save and don’t have to worried about the terrorism, foreign diseases and will contribute more to the economy of the country since, people will engage themselves more on business, agricultures and other domestic money earning activities. Therefore, one could say that increasing policing border security means increasing the economy of the country since people will feel free and safe to do business in a country healthy country, free from foreign diseases.
In additionally, the effect of increasing policing border security means countries shows and exercises their sovereignty despite size and wealthy. This effect could be a message that other countries will see that, it just more than just a country of its own but shows them that it has strong and tightly secured from the influences of bigger and wealthier countries. A good example is our pacific island countries. Despite how small are we but yet we still have all the rights to decide on our own rather than depending on other countries. Therefore, increasing policing bored security shows other countries that our country is safe and our implemented laws are effective, showing sovereignty to other countries.
On the other hand, increasing policing border securities also have some negative impacts on the people and nation. Time consuming and financial challenge would be recognized to be potential side effects of increasing policing border security since, to be eligible to travel overseas, migrants have to go through many processes, spent a lot of money and usually the procedure takes time before all the travelling documents to be approved or disapproved. For example, for passport processing, one has to go through immigration department and the same goes to police and medical clearance at each respective ministries. Therefore, increasing policing border security can delays and only allows wealthy people to travel overseas.
Finally, increasing policing border security does not respect people despite ranks and status, that is, it does not care whether a person is wealthy or poor, a lawyer or an ordinary, all are treated the same and will have to produce exact documents for travelling purposes during check in time at the borders for verifications. For instance, a Priminister has to produce valid and traveling documents if he/she were to traveling overseas, just as the ordinary people despite they look after the well fairs of the country, if not he/she can face the same penalties given to the ordinary people. That means, nobody is above the laws. Everybody, is treated the same and equally in the sense that same procedure of checking have to apply to everybody despite ranks and status. Therefore, increasing policing border security does not care who you are.
In conclusion, the major reasons of increasing policing border security have been discussed above. Generally, it secures the country, limit illegal migration of people with bad motives such as terrorist. It also improves and shows the sovereignty of a country despite size and wealth to other countries. However, increasing policing border security also recognized to have positive and negative effects to the people and the nation. Therefore, we could say that even though increasing policing border security helps improve the security of the nation, it also affect the activities and the interaction of the people in the country with each other.

Abstract.
This essay presents both the advantages and disadvantages of government providing free health to the citizens. Firstly, it begins with the significant advantages, which illustrate the benefits gain by most unfortunate people who cannot afford private health services. This essay further provides details on why it is affordable compared to private own hospitals. Additionally, it also point out why free health care establishes diplomatic relation between countries. Furthermore, it discusses the equality services provided for both urban and rural areas. On the hand, it presents the disadvantages of it. Giving details on why free health care is not totally free, followed by feature like completion in health services are no longer exist, leading to break down of private hospitals. This essay also provides details that free health care is somehow increase taxations for people. It also shows that it create contradictions to other democratic elements in the country. This essay concludes with the fact that even though free health care causes excitement to the people yet it is still having limitation to this system. It also give a suggestion that this system of free health care provided by the government should be closely examined in order to be balanced other ministry bodies in the country.

Title: Advantages and disadvantages of government providing free health to its Citizens.

For years, American politicians and layperson alike have been debating the issue concerning national health care. It is important to appreciate that government providing free health care present both advantages and disadvantages side of it. Free health care does not always completely free and can lead to discrepancy in other ministry bodies. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of government providing free health care for the citizens. Firstly, it will discuss the advantages and then will look at the disadvantages and finally, it will try to draw a conclusion based on summarizing the content of the essay and tries to prove or disprove the thesis statement above and give a suggestion to the issue.
Firstly, the advantage of having a free health care is that it would be free for everyone. In any functional society, there are always three classes of people. The higher, the middle, and the lower class. When interviewed on 31 March, Moke (2010) “Usually, for any development in the country’s betterment, the higher and the middle class were the only one who always benefit while the lower class remains poor”. Fortunately, when it comes to free health care provided by the government, people are not classified. “Everybody is guaranteeing the same health treatment qualities and respect or in other words, when it comes to free health care there is neither rich nor poor; all the people will receive a universal health care”( Health Plans 2010). In the past years Solomon Islands was estimated to be, approximately 70% of the people were rural dweller who cannot afford health care end up with chronic illness and fatal conditions because they cannot afford to see a doctor nor pay for medications, diagnostic tools, and curative procedures such as surgery. But from since when the government introduces this system of free health care, people get immediate help and health in the country began to improve. Solomontimes (2007) states "I think our government has adopted one of the fairest health care systems in the world which does not discriminate against those who have limited financial resources to afford health services and drugs," Forau (2010).
In addition, government providing free health care is under one administration, the fact that the ministry of health is governing by a single body the government itself. Thus, “the cost of medicine and other medical equipments would go down since the government will purchase them in bulk compared to if purchased by private hospitals”(Health Plans 2010). This system is also affordable for the people if should there be any purchased needed for certain services. For example, In the Solomon Islands, blood testing and other medical attentions were only cost about four dollars (SBD$4.00), which is much cheaper compared to private hospitals. Therefore, government providing free health care is still considered better than privately owned hospitals.
Secondly, free health care provided by the government and other AID donor countries establish strong diplomatic relations with each other, which further create channels of exchange between them. This channels help to maintain this free health care in the Country consistently. Whereby, the government negotiates with these AID donors countries so that its students would do abroad studies in the field of Medicine and Pharmacies in these countries. “For the past years up until now, the Solomon Island government and Cuban government established strong relations and sending Solomon Island students to do medical studies in Cuba” Mamu (2008). Therefore, one could consider and recognized that free health care provided by the government is not only a directly beneficial way to patients. But, it is also a way to provide opportunities for students to do further study oversea and to gain significant skills and highly qualified doctors and physicians for the future betterment of the Country Solomon Islands.

STI diseases. In this way, the people will have better understanding of what really health is. For instance, Mamu (2010) reported “the Help A Friend Foundation (HAFF) medical team [a fragment of Regional Assistant Mission to Solomon Islands, RAMSI] recently conducted another medical tour to Marovo Lagoon in the Western Province in the Solomon Islands”. The people were so happy that they do not have to travel thousands of miles from the village to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara to see a doctor. Therefore, awareness curried out through such programs in the villages is always correlates with the standard of living and the healthiness of the people in the rural areas.
Thirdly, On the other hand, even though these free health services provided by the government sound free and exciting, there are few significant impacts were also recognized, which could be the disadvantages perspective of it. There would be lack of competition in the ministry of health, that is doctors and physicians somehow would still receive very low salaries compared to their qualifications papers. Health plan describe, as “Competition is a healthy feature of private enterprise. It should not be replaced with a monopoly. When there are no competitors, companies and government agencies become complacent lacking any reason to improve upon products and services” (Health plane 2010). Since, the government health services is free, people flooded to government owned hospital causing most private hospital break down leaving those who work in those hospital jobless. Consequently, some highly qualified doctors were even migrated out to other countries. For example, few doctors from Solomon Island had serving in different countries such as New Zealand and Australia due to low payments imposed by the government. From a more analytical observation, free health care may benefit the middle and lower class people but it will also cause job loss to higher-class people who work in this field.
Another point is, free health care is principally free but nothing is free.
There is really no such a thing as free health care, at least not for most people benefit. The National Health System in Great Britain is paid people to work for. The deductions were taken out of paychecks. While there is no bill at the end of course of a treatment, the health care has certainly been paid for. The only people who truly get free health care are those who have not contributed to the system. This group include those will not work  and prefer to leech their way through life via government hand-outs, of course, the ubiquitous illegal aliens. The system is administration heavy, inefficient, unwieldy, and bogged down in red tape (Ganapathy 2008, p. 8). Sic.

It is also increase taxation in the long run for all classes of people. The higher-class people such as business owners and employees were been complained about the increase of taxes in the Solomon Islands from approximately five percent (5%) to thirty percent (30%) depending on the salaries. For the middle and low classes such as farmers and the grass roots people, new rules were been imposed to them. They have to pay about ten dollars (SBD$10.00) per head and this include private property such minor businesses and animals. Therefore, politically, this system of government providing free health care is not a completely free service, but indirectly, it is the people themselves who pay the cost of these services they enjoy.
Finally, government proving free health for the citizens somehow contradicts some elements of democracy in democratic countries. Since, medical services are free, this lead to the elimination of competitors as mention in paragraph seven above. Consequently, giving people no choice to which hospitals and physicians they want to visit. In countries like Solomon Islands where customs and culture were still strong, brothers and sisters are not allowed to deal with each other that is if either of the two is a doctor or a nurse and the other is a patient. Especially, when it comes to personal and confidential health problems. Therefore, free health services provided by the government still do have limitations in one way or the other.
In addition, as free health care seems to eliminate the competitors this lead to the problem of overcrowded in hospitals. “The hospitals were so crowed, making long queues from morning till evening only cause frustration to people without receiving medical help”(Health Plans 2010). Along with that, others were in the long waiting lists with bone fracture for almost months before the actual operation can took place. During this waiting time, some very sick people could lost their lives. For instance, just early this year my Cousin Brother rushes his daughter to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara for operation, having digestive problem. The doctor took their details and put them in the waiting list, and told them to come back in two months time. Unfortunately, the case was ended up unresolved but turns out in another way. She is death in the first month of the waiting time. Therefore, free health care can be also time consuming and take long before one can actually get treatments and this is totally wrong and Unreliable services. It is possible that people can wait for dates but diseases wait for no date.
In conclusion, it is clearly discuss above that government providing free health care for citizens is somehow show a balance between the advantages and the disadvantages of free health care. Therefore, one could conclude, reflect back on the thesis statement above to prove or disprove it. That is, Free health care does not always completely free and can lead to discrepancy in the government budget affecting other ministries. Free health care provided by the government is not absolutely free as many people might think but actually, it is the people themselves who pay for the medicines and other medical services that everyone enjoyed. Therefore, it is suggested that, while the government providing these services it should be cautious of other ministries in the country and ensure that that there is always a balance in the services provided by the government its people.

MY FOTOS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC.

UU114 FIRST ESSAY..CHALLENGES FACE BY FIRST YEAR STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY.

Title: The Challenges faced by first year student at the university.
Introduction:
Context: Low performances observed from the first year students at the University.
Subject: Challenges.
Limiting Subject:
                            a). Challenges.
                            b). Student.
                             c). University.
Issue: It is very important to recognize that first year student at the university, faces challenges.
Thesis: The cause of low performance of first year students at the university comprises of a number of challenges. This includes Personal, Educational, Environmental and Social Challenges.

 Main point 1. PERSONAL CHALLENGE.
Firstly, Personal challenges faced by first year students at the University may cover three challenges. Loneliness is the first of these three personal challenges. Loneliness is an emotional feeling arises when somebody feels that he/she was been left out by his friends, especially in a totally new environment like here. In addition, it is a quite common feeling faced by most first year students at Universities when they left their families, to do abroad studies in higher level of Education. A common and a classic example, of this feeling is Home and lovesick; this happens when you are missing your family or somebody so special to you in life, apart from each other.  Fortunately, this emotional feeling can be only last few weeks to recover from, as more friends will be met in the due time.
Next, for the first year students, communication challenges are a major concern to them. Even though, English is the common language used and well understand by students. However, the main concern of the first year student at the University is, when it comes to the fluency and confidence in oral speaking especially during presentation and discussions during classes. However, this can be only takes some time to get over it, as different students from different countries will started to interact with each other using English language as their common medium of communication.
A further point is financial problem. Most first year students at the University are always having problems when it comes to savings and spending money. Even though, they usually receiving huge amount of money from their sponsors. However, their problem is money sock, since some of them are their first time to receive such a huge amount of money into their own pockets, making them Over excited and even forget that this money will soon gone without even buying  educational necessities and learning materials such as text books and other important learning resources. Therefore, the chief cause of financial setback of the first year students at the University is poor financial management.
Main point 2. ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES.
Secondly, Besides Personal challenges, Environmental challenges are also a major concern of the first year students at the University. Learning in a completely new environment is not as easy as one might think, as it requires adaptation to the new Environment. The type of teaching and learning methods may different from the one first year student at the University used during their high schools. For example, the use of library catalogue which will be detailed in the later paragraph is new to most first year students.
Additionally, learning progression can be stagnant in a noisy and too crowded environment for the first year student at the University. A successful and a productive learning outcome need privacy and a conducive environment. Most first year students at the University, found difficulties to learn in a crowded environment as it correlate with a number of negative impacts. Such as, lose concentration and interest in the learning processes. However, in a month or so the first year students at the University should have been adapted to the system if they are eager to learn.

Main point 3. Academic/Educational Challenges.
Thirdly, educational challenges are always a concern as well to most first year students at the University. Academic side in Universities are more professional than High Schools than most first year students might expect, thus, most of them are not serious enough with time management. Time management will be first discuses under the education challenges. It is simply explains how an individual plan and allocate his/her daily activities according to time. Sometimes, first year students are losing opportunities to get extra marks towards their final assessment. For instance, they may late or fail at all to attend to tutorial and labs, which means they will lose marks. In addition, procrastination is also a poison of time management. This word is referring to the manner of keeping tasks such as assignment and Home works to a later date. Consequently, may result in the overall performance of the first year students at the University to a low standard.
Furthermore, it is also a great challenge for the first year students to use the University resources economically. Universities may have different resources to help the students in their studies. Library and computers are classic examples of some of the Universities resources, which can be challenging for the first year students to use. Most Libraries in Universities use catalogues with the aid of computers to locate books and other resources in the library. However, most first year students do not know how to use the library catalogue and even do not know internet research skills to do researches economically, especially those who computer illiterate. However, some Universities finally recognized some of these setbacks in Computer related resources and start to introduce computer related courses to first year students. For instance, just last year 2010, the University of the South Pacific finally introduces a course known as Information and Communication (UU100) to the first year students.

Main point 4: Social Challenges.
Finally, Universities are more entertaining and advance learning grounds, which can bring about freedom to any possibilities in life. In related to the social challenges, “cultivate friendship”, will be the first to discuss before any other social challenges. Most first year students at the University are always happy to meet and making new friends. As time passed by, some first year students seem more than being friendly that is, they want to in a relationships. This can be resulted in certain negative impacts such as low performance in class work, which can then affect the overall grades of the first year students at the University.
The second point to discuss under the social challenges faced by first year students at the University is, Social night programs. In Universities, they have some times to run entertainment nights for the students. In such a program, it can be easily diverting ones interest to drinking and clubbing rather than educational curriculum activities. Those things always encourage drinking and sometimes first year students finally ended up in Clubs and even jail. Take for instance, the incident happened last year after the Vodafone arena Social night organized by the University of the South Pacific where a first year student is found outside a club in Suva so drunk and was taken by the police to the jail for a night over.

Conclusion:
To conclude, it is very important to recognize that most of the first year students always face difficulties at the Universities. This always been a concern of the first year students at the University that due to the fact that adaptation and time always correlates. That is why most of them always perform poorly in their academic result for the first time. Therefore, it should be Understandable why most of the first year students at the University always perform poorly, but sometimes this is not always the case for some   very smart students at the Universities.
