Finally, this essay concluded, by restating and outlined that increasing policing border securities have a balance of negative and positive effect to the people and the nation.

Title: What are the major reasons for the increased policing of national borders and the effects this has on the people and the nation?
Global migration and diffusion of outside influences into a Nation was what been happening during the past years. However, the very birth of computer age, technology and highly computerized machine and scanners helps in international borders as securities during the migration of people. This essay will give the reasons and then will state the effect of increasing policing border security on the people and the nation. It is important to recognize why increasing policing border security and the effects it has on the people and the nations. The major reasons why increasing policing borders could be to avoid terrorism, illegal migration and illegal harvesting of other country’s resources.
Firstly, Terrorism is not a new concept; it has been practiced since the beginning of the recorded history. “Terrorism, has been described variously as both tragic and strategy, a crime and a holy duty, as justified reaction to oppression and an inexcusable abomination” Mamu. C. (2007). By knowing better the motives and the danger it have on the people and the nation, that’s why most countries have increase policing border securities such as international airports, seaports and check points in countries such as USA and Canada to avoid terrorism. Most terrorism activities begin normally like any other innocent people. In incident where they hijacked plants, they just go through normal check up like any other passengers to board the plane up until when was the right time to show themselves that they are involved in a suicide mission. For example, the incident occurred in 11 April 2001 in New York City. Where the two planes hit the northern and the southern tower resulted in killing of thousands of people. Therefore, the main reason of increasing policing border security is to avoid these terrorism activities from our countries.
Next, criminal movement is also a threat to the people and the nation. Sometimes people cause troubles, escaped jails, and want to migrate to other countries to hide away from their crimes and troubles. Fortunately, by increased the policing borders security most of them were caught since, one has to provide a complete and approved travelling documents. For example, to be eligible to travel overseas one has to go through police and medical clearances” Travel State (Canada). (2011). Most countries the international borders securities have work collaborate with the immigration department to make this more effective. Therefore, by increasing policing border security it helps protecting the country from the migration of criminals from the outside world to enter into our countries.
Another, reason of increasing policing border securities is to get tract of foreign investors in the country from doing business in the country illegally. Along with the help of immigration department, the city council also comes in there ensuring that the business affairs of the foreign investor were operated according to the laws and the regulations of the country. Similarly, to students study permit and workers work permit, business were also monitored by business license. Only by signing these formal documents and clearances, one will be able to operate and get through these international borders. For instance, “in Solomon Islands a lot of Chinese people who want to run their business without the approval from the City councils were later found out and were sent back to their country” Rowan, C. (2011). Therefore, increasing policing border security helps to ensure that the all the foreign investors in the country are operating legally.
Moreover, deliberately supplied and smuggling of people in and out of a country with nuclear weapons and firearms were also contributing factors for increased policing borders. In most cases firearm were sent via sea vessel in container ships by producers, fortunately, since the cargo has to checked by the ports and the quarantine department, only what is allowed into that particular country will be get through. The movement of such things can be only detected at these international border securities since policing borders were tightly secured.  It have been a concern in most nations that crime rate increases correlate with nuclear weapon possessions. For example, “during the Solomon Island ethnic tension most people shows more power when they posse’s guns and other nuclear warheads illegal sending from Papua New Guinea. However, when the government initiates a team to collect all the guns from the people and increase its policing borders they found out that these guns were sent via illegal sea vessels through Bougainvillea across the border of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea” Rowan, C. (2011). From since then, the peace started to maintain again and people were treated the same. Therefore, the reason why increasing policing borders is to maintain the peace and the security of a particular country from any illegal activities happening between two or more countries that will affect the people and the Nation.
Secondly, illegal migration of people in and out of a country have been practiced for several decayed and it always associates with other negative impacts to the country, such as overcrowded and increasing the population of the destination country. Some migrants used fake documents such as Passports and IDs to get through some international borders but now since increasing policing borders securities along with new modern technologies it have minimize these illegal migrations. “Most countries they increase their policing borders securities by work collaborate with several security departments in the country such as immigration department, police and health department, which means migrants, have to go through several tests and sign several documents for approval before eligible to migrate out and enter into other countries” FAIR, (2007). Moreover, in the destination country the immigration department there has to make approvals and know how much time the migrants have to spend before leave. For instance, immigration department has to produce permits, such as study and work permits to the migrant who are not the citizens in that particular country. Therefore, in order to minimize and controlled these illegal migrations the government has engage in a very effective way of controlling these illegal migration by increasing policing border securities such as at the airport and the seaports.
Next, another reason why most countries increase their policing border securities is that most countries are very cautious about the health of the people and the nation. Since, migrants can be carriers of foreign diseases to the place of destinations countries increase policing border securities to prevent these foreign diseases. For example,“Some of these diseases can be transmitted diseases such as HIV and AIDS and Swein flu, which were the primary killers in some countries and associated with the down fall of some country’s economy” FAIR, (2007). Therefore, the reason why most countries increase their international securities is to avoid and minimize foreign diseases from entering onto their country.
Furthermore, most developed nations have very limited rubbish-dumping sites. Some of them take advantage of other countries to discard their rubbish. Especially, in the developing nations. These rubbishes contained very active radio materials, which can further cause further destruction in the environment. For example, According to Luis E. R (2009), in 2002 Nadi Declaration: “We express our strong objection to the transport of nuclear and other hazardous materials through the waters around ACP States. We call for the immediate cessation of such practice in order to, inter alia, prevent any occurrence of accidents that could seriously threaten their sustainable development and the health of their people”. In 2006, an Asian ship transported some of these rubbishes from Taiwan to Solomon Islands after they giving false information to the government, said that it increases soil fertility. Upon, arrival at the seaports the Quarantine department along with the seaports authority of the country conducted a thorough checked. The result turned to be the ship posses some radioactive elements, which can be decayed and release to the environment causing the environmental problems. Therefore, increasing policing border security prevents movement of harmful items in and out of a country.
Thirdly, illegal harvesting of other country’s resources. These can be in the form of foreign fishing vessels deliberately fish in other country’s sea water boundaries without the permission from that particular country.
Japanese managers’ self identification in opposition to US tuna interests came to the fore in representations of a 1980s dispute about illegal fishing by a US purse seine vessel, the Jeanette Diana. In 1984 several Pacific Island countries became angry at illegal fishing by US purse seiners in their EEZs. The Jeanette Diana was a very large, high tech purse seiner with its own small helicopter to ‘spot’ schools of fish. The ship had been noticed in several places within Solomon Islands waters over a period of days, so the authorities sent out a patrol boat to request the Jeanette Diana to stop so they could board and check whether or not the ship had been fishing. When the Captain of the tuna boat refused to stop, the patrol boat fired shots across the bow of the tuna boat. The boat had been fishing, so it was impounded and the Captain was prosecuted (Barclay, K. 2010).
Since, such event can happened that’s why most countries increase policing security borders securities in their own countries.
Next, tourism can be also seen as a threat to the natural resources of a country, though it helps improve the economy of a country. In most occasions tourism come into the country in  numbers exploring our natural beauties in our island nations. They often get tempted to pick our valuables and brought with them to their countries. “This has contributed to a great loss of our valuable and primitive items” Ragsdale, I. (2011). By establishing a tight international border securities always helps to find out from tourist who possess those valuable pickings, and this is a way of saving our endangered valuable resources from being deliberately removed. For instance, at the airport, one has to fill a declaration slip whether you in possession of any plants or other items that was not originally yours. Therefore, increasing policing borders security indirectly means saving our natural and valuable resources.
On the other hand, though increasing policing border security helps and protecting our countries from outside world influences. Yet it is still have some both positive and negative effects on the people and the nation. That is, it almost have an equally both beneficial and negative impacts on our daily and the standard of living in our countries.
In the following paragraphs, it will look at the beneficial (positive) effects of increasing policing borders first and then will focuses on the negative effects later. One positive effect of increasing policing border securities is that, it secures the people and the country from the outside world influences. That is, people will feel more save and don’t have to worried about the terrorism, foreign diseases and will contribute more to the economy of the country since, people will engage themselves more on business, agricultures and other domestic money earning activities. Therefore, one could say that increasing policing border security means increasing the economy of the country since people will feel free and safe to do business in a country healthy country, free from foreign diseases.
In additionally, the effect of increasing policing border security means countries shows and exercises their sovereignty despite size and wealthy. This effect could be a message that other countries will see that, it just more than just a country of its own but shows them that it has strong and tightly secured from the influences of bigger and wealthier countries. A good example is our pacific island countries. Despite how small are we but yet we still have all the rights to decide on our own rather than depending on other countries. Therefore, increasing policing bored security shows other countries that our country is safe and our implemented laws are effective, showing sovereignty to other countries.
On the other hand, increasing policing border securities also have some negative impacts on the people and nation. Time consuming and financial challenge would be recognized to be potential side effects of increasing policing border security since, to be eligible to travel overseas, migrants have to go through many processes, spent a lot of money and usually the procedure takes time before all the travelling documents to be approved or disapproved. For example, for passport processing, one has to go through immigration department and the same goes to police and medical clearance at each respective ministries. Therefore, increasing policing border security can delays and only allows wealthy people to travel overseas.
Finally, increasing policing border security does not respect people despite ranks and status, that is, it does not care whether a person is wealthy or poor, a lawyer or an ordinary, all are treated the same and will have to produce exact documents for travelling purposes during check in time at the borders for verifications. For instance, a Priminister has to produce valid and traveling documents if he/she were to traveling overseas, just as the ordinary people despite they look after the well fairs of the country, if not he/she can face the same penalties given to the ordinary people. That means, nobody is above the laws. Everybody, is treated the same and equally in the sense that same procedure of checking have to apply to everybody despite ranks and status. Therefore, increasing policing border security does not care who you are.
In conclusion, the major reasons of increasing policing border security have been discussed above. Generally, it secures the country, limit illegal migration of people with bad motives such as terrorist. It also improves and shows the sovereignty of a country despite size and wealth to other countries. However, increasing policing border security also recognized to have positive and negative effects to the people and the nation. Therefore, we could say that even though increasing policing border security helps improve the security of the nation, it also affect the activities and the interaction of the people in the country with each other.
